Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized, compassionate care to neonates (including <24-28 weeks) in a Level III NICU
• Manage respiratory support and ventilator settings (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) to optimize breathing
• Administer medications safely using Pyxis, including IV vasopressors, surfactants, and steroids
• Perform and manage vascular access and lines: arterial lines, central lines, UACs and UVCs
• Interpret and manage cardiovascular dysrhythmias to support neonatal stability
• Implement infection prevention and isolation precautions to keep vulnerable patients safe
• Document timely and accurately in Nationwide Children's EPIC system to ensure continuity of care
• Communicate effectively with families and the care team using SBAR and collaborative handoffs

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) — required
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — required
• Experience in NICU Level III and/or Level IV settings (minimum ~1 year of relevant experience noted)
• Competency in ventilator management, IV therapy, and line catheter management (UAC/UVC/arterial/central)
• Skill in dysrhythmia interpretation and neonatal-specific medication administration

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal care and NICU nursing best practices
• Respiratory and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP)
• IV therapy, IV vasopressors, and emergency medication administration
• Arterial line, central line, UAC and UVC management
• Feeding tube placement and management (oral, NG, NJ) and neonatal feeding methods
• Infection prevention and PPE / isolation precautions
• Documentation in EPIC (Nationwide Children's) and use of Pyxis medication system
• SBAR communication and multidisciplinary team collaboration
