Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, evidence-based neuro-critical care to complex patients in a 32-bed Neuro ICU
• Perform thorough neuro assessments and monitor intracranial pressure (ICP) closely
• Manage ventilators and coordinate advanced respiratory support with RT 24/7
• Provide safe care for patients with EVDs and maintain strict sterile-field technique for central line dressing changes
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and communicate changes promptly to the team
• Participate in SIMs Lab and competency validations (Foley insertion, central line dressing changes) and maintain required certifications
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy and respiratory therapy to optimize patient outcomes
• Float to Tele units when needed and manage appropriate telemetry loads per unit expectations

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to submit and willing to wait if needed)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• EVD (external ventricular drain) experience required
• Minimum: 2 years ICU experience in a large hospital (450+ beds); will consider <2 years if candidate has 18 months Neuro ICU experience
• 3-6 months prior travel experience preferred for travelers
• Must pass required pre-employment/clinical exams (DYS exam prior to accepting; two attempts allowed)
• Travel team members must have their own vehicle; additional site-specific requirements: natural hair color, no facial piercings, and men must be clean shaven for fit testing

Education

• Active RN license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong neuro assessment and ICP monitoring skills
• Comfortable with ventilator management and advanced critical care interventions
• Proficient with Cerner electronic medical records
• Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitors
• Skilled in maintaining sterile fields, central line care and Foley catheter insertion
• Ability to float between ICU and Tele units and manage varied patient ratios
• Experience with wound care, lifts and restraints, and telemetry patient management
