Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to MedSurg and Post-OR/Recovery patients
• Manage a 1:5 patient ratio safely, prioritizing assessments and timely interventions
• Perform accurate, timely charting using EPIC to ensure clear communication of patient status
• Administer and monitor oxygen therapy (including nasal cannula) and other routine therapies
• Float within scope to support unit needs and ensure continuity of care across teams
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Participate in orientation learning and demonstrate competency on required skills checks
• Step into charge responsibilities when needed (charge experience preferred) to support unit flow

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (license to submit required)
• Driver's license required at submittal (used for radius verification)
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (MedSurg experience highly relevant)
• Charge nurse experience: at least 1 year preferred for charge roles
• Comfortable with Post-Operative/Recovery care and med/surg patient populations
• Willingness to float within scope and work 12-hour night shifts

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma — BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient charting in EPIC and strong documentation practices
• Solid MedSurg clinical skills, including post-op recovery management
• Experience with nasal cannula and basic oxygen therapy
• Ability to safely manage a 1:5 patient ratio and prioritize effectively
• Strong communication and teamwork with nursing and interdisciplinary staff
• Familiarity with oncology med/surg overflow patient types is a plus
• Comfort with protocols, unit policies (e.g., fingernail/artificial nail restrictions), and pass/fail competency checks
