Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients, prioritizing safety and comfort
• Perform thorough assessments, monitor patient status, and escalate changes promptly to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while documenting per facility policy
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and multidisciplinary team members to implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, discharge instructions and self-care
• Maintain accurate, timely electronic medical records and complete required unit documentation
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive unit culture

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN eligible
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing (Med/Surg) — prior Med/Surg experience preferred
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS or other certifications encouraged
• Strong clinical assessment skills, safe medication administration, and solid documentation habits
• Ability to work 12.5-hour shifts and collaborate in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Thorough knowledge of Med/Surg standards of care and clinical best practices
• Proficiency with patient assessment, IV therapy, wound care, and medication administration
• Clear communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with interdisciplinary staff
• Good time management and prioritization under variable workload
• Comfortable using electronic medical record (EMR) systems for documentation and orders
