Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert labor and delivery nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
• Monitor and interpret fetal heart tracings using external fetal monitoring and take appropriate action
• Circulate for Cesarean sections and assist during vaginal deliveries and other obstetric procedures
• Administer and manage critical therapies such as magnesium sulfate, insulin drips and antihypertensives
• Perform surgical support for procedures including cervical cerclage and D&C
• Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, respiratory services and rapid response teams to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN with at least 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required (HARD STOP)
• Travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred). NCC EFM Cert may be accepted in place of AWHONN Intermediate
• Must be able to circulate for C-sections and assist with high-risk deliveries
• Pending licenses are not accepted; candidates must have current, valid licensure at time of submission
• Comfort with high-acuity, very high-risk pregnancy diagnoses and 1:1 or 1:2 patient ratios

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and Delivery nursing best practices and fetal monitoring (EFM)
• Fetal heart rate interpretation and recognition/treatment of abnormal patterns
• Circulating for Cesarean section and assisting with vaginal deliveries
• High-risk antepartum care and management of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia, multiples, diabetes and other OB diagnoses
• Proficiency with Epic charting and accurate documentation
• Medication administration including magnesium sulfate, insulin drips and antihypertensives
• Ability to function effectively in a large acute care, Magnet-designated hospital environment
