Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using established protocols and fetal heart monitoring
• Collaborate with OB/GYNs, midwives, anesthesiology and neonatal teams to deliver safe, timely care
• Educate and support patients and families during labor and postpartum recovery
• Recognize, escalate and respond to critical changes in maternal or fetal condition
• Document care accurately and efficiently to support continuity and quality improvement

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana (or eligibility for state licensure)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and ACLS preferred
• Previous experience in Labor & Delivery preferred (new grads with L&D clinical experience encouraged to apply)
• Current clinical competencies in fetal monitoring, labor assessment, and postpartum care
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work rotating 12.5-hour shifts, including nights and weekends

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Fetal heart rate monitoring and strip interpretation
• Intrapartum and postpartum assessment and interventions
• Neonatal stabilization and basic newborn care principles
• Patient education, discharge planning, and family-centered care
• Effective interdisciplinary collaboration and clear clinical communication
• Electronic medical record documentation and clinical workflow efficiency
