Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using established protocols and technologies
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and the interdisciplinary team to support safe deliveries
• Perform timely, accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient progress
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn basics
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns when appropriate
• Contribute to unit quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — Louisiana licensure preferred or compact-state eligibility
• Previous Labor & Delivery clinical experience or strong interest in obstetric nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; NRP and ACLS highly desirable or obtainable upon hire
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in maternal/fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Comfortable with intrapartum and early postpartum nursing care
• Familiarity with hospital EMR documentation and unit-specific protocols
• Ability to prioritize care, triage patients, and remain calm under pressure
• Compassionate patient education and family-centered care approach
