Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Infection Prevention & Control Program for the SEARHC system
• Conduct surveillance, collect and analyze infection control data, and prepare reports for NHSN and regulatory agencies
• Translate regulatory requirements (CMS, CDC, OSHA, TJC, FDA) into practical policies, procedures, and staff education
• Design and deliver engaging infection prevention education and training for staff, patients, and communities
• Serve as chair of the IPC committee and provide oversight of Employee Health programs
• Collaborate with clinical leaders and public health partners to ensure timely reporting and coordinated responses
• Supervise and mentor staff, evaluate program effectiveness, and drive performance improvement initiatives
• Travel to regional sites to assess practices, provide on-site education, and support local teams

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state; direct hires must have applied for Alaska license before start
• Certification in Infection Control and Prevention (CIC) required
• BLS (Basic Life Support) current within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually
• Minimum 3 years of acute care and/or infection control experience and/or experience in data collection, performance improvement, or risk management
• Clinical and manager competency assessments completed within required timelines (per SEARHC policy)
• Experience with NHSN reporting and familiarity with epidemiologic principles and basic statistics

Education

• Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field required (nursing, public health, epidemiology, microbiology, or similar)
• Master's degree (MPH, MSN) preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent referenced as part of organizational requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles
• Proficient with data collection, trending, analysis, and NHSN reporting
• Skilled in policy and procedure development, implementation, and program evaluation
• Comfortable with MS Office and database applications for reporting and analytics
• Able to synthesize regulatory guidance and evidence-based practice into actionable plans
• Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences and multicultural settings
• Project management and performance improvement experience to drive system-level change
