Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency care for high- and low-acuity patients in the FSED
• Assess, triage, and prioritize patients quickly and effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document thoroughly in Meditech
• Manage critically ill patients with calm, decisive critical care interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, EMTs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Perform and interpret point-of-care testing and labs to guide treatment decisions
• Participate in emergency procedures and maintain required certifications for unit safety
• Maintain patient ratios and deliver compassionate patient- and family-centered care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Virginia or meet state licensure requirements)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, ED experience strongly preferred
• Current ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC certifications (required)
• ENPC preferred (nice to have)
• Comfortable caring for critically ill patients and working independently when needed
• Experience with Meditech or similar EMR is a plus
• Ability to work night shifts and cover scheduled weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency department nursing and rapid triage skills
• Critical care assessment and stabilization
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR and documentation best practices
• Comfort with GE equipment and point-of-care testing
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to manage a 4:1 patient ratio in a busy FSED setting
