Shift Type: Rotating shifts (day/evening/night) as part of the float pool; primarily ED coverage handling boarder patients with possible floating to acute units. Schedule varies and may include weekends.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care for ED patients and those boarding in the ED
• Assess, triage and monitor patients across acuity levels, including trauma and critical care needs
• Manage boarder patients from med/surg, stepdown and ICU with safe handoffs and clear documentation
• Collaborate closely with physicians, charge nurses and interdisciplinary teams to streamline patient flow
• Support unit adaptability by floating to acute units when needed and maintaining competency across settings
• Maintain accurate patient demographics and badge-appropriate identification (photo) as required

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar-sized Level I trauma facility
• Current BLS, ACLS and TNCC certifications (required)
• Clean resume with no gaps; ED skills checklist and ED references required
• Demonstrated ability to manage boarder patients and float to acute units (med/surg, stepdown, ICU)

Education

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

Knowledge & Skills

• Trauma assessment and resuscitation experience in a Level I trauma environment
• Cardiac life support and advanced cardiac monitoring skills
• Triage, rapid stabilization and critical thinking in high-volume ED settings
• Patient boarding management and strategies to optimize throughput
• Comfort working across med/surg, stepdown and ICU patient populations when floated
• Strong communication, documentation and teamwork skills
