Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate dialysis care to patients in a hospital setting
• Operate and monitor dialysis machines and equipment, ensuring safe treatment delivery
• Assess patient status before, during, and after dialysis; respond promptly to changes
• Manage vascular access care and troubleshooting with attention to infection control
• Document treatments, vitals, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about dialysis processes, access care, and home-care considerations
• Maintain compliance with facility policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (Florida or appropriate compact license) required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with dialysis experience preferred (as listed)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS) preferred or as required by facility
• Demonstrated experience with hemodialysis equipment and vascular access care
• Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Ability to pass facility orientation and any required competency assessments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth understanding of dialysis principles, fluid/electrolyte balance, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Proficient in dialysis machine setup, troubleshooting, and patient treatment parameters
• Skilled in infection control practices, vascular access assessment, and safe blood handling
• Excellent patient assessment, communication, and patient-education skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, nephrology teams, and support staff
• Strong time management and prioritization in a high-acuity setting
