Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical education and training to long-term care staff across Sitka and Wrangell, improving patient care and staff competence
• Partner with clinical leaders to standardize and implement clinical competency programs aligned with policy and accreditation standards
• Design, select, and deliver curriculum and training modalities for adult learners, including new employee orientation and preceptorship support
• Evaluate and document competency completion and effectiveness of educational activities using evidence-based approaches
• Collaborate with nursing leadership and external academic partners to coordinate student clinical experiences
• Participate as an active member of the Clinical Nursing Education program and contribute to consortium-wide projects

Qualifications

• BSN from an accredited school of nursing required
• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required; direct hire must have applied for Alaska license before start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for providers required
• BLS Instructor certification preferred or must be obtained within 1 year of hire
• Clinical Competency Assessment required within 3 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter
• Minimum 5 years of professional nursing experience including at least 2 years in long-term care
• 2 years of clinical instructor/educator experience (one year may be satisfied by supervisory experience)
• Supervisory experience preferred

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of professional nursing principles, long-term care practices, and geriatric care
• Experience developing curriculum and competency-based training programs for adult learners
• Ability to evaluate educational outcomes and ensure policy and accreditation compliance
• Skilled in in-person and virtual training modalities, with familiarity in Microsoft Teams, Workday, Canva, Articulate, Smartsheet, SharePoint, and PowerPoint
• Excellent oral and written communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
• Comfort with travel by jet, small aircraft, and ferry to support multi-site training
