Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality critical care to trauma, burn and surgical ICU patients with compassion and precision
• Manage complex critical care equipment and procedures including EVDs and massive transfusion protocols (MTP)
• Respond proactively to codes and emergency situations, leading resuscitation efforts when needed
• Perform wound care and advanced ICU interventions while maintaining safe patient ratios (typically 2:1)
• Document patient care thoroughly in the Meditech EMR to ensure continuity and clarity of care
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and unit staff to create strong, patient-centered care plans
• Support unit workflow by floating to related areas when needed (MSICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, PCU)

Qualifications

• Active RN license (Texas or compact RN) is required
• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience; Trauma, Burn or Surgical ICU experience is a must
• BSN strongly preferred
• CCRN preferred and highly regarded
• Strong critical thinking and clear communication skills
• Comfortable using Meditech EMR and working with advanced critical care technology

Education

• Active RN license required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience in Trauma ICU, Burn ICU and Surgical ICU settings
• Proficiency with critical care equipment and bedside procedures
• Wound care expertise and familiarity with EVD management
• Experience with codes and massive transfusion protocol (MTP)
• Ability to manage a 2:1 patient ratio in high-acuity settings
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork and patient advocacy
