Roles & Responsibilities

• Treat patients as directed by the Physical Therapist and deliver hands-on care that makes a measurable difference
• Record daily treatment notes and weekly progress notes in compliance with the PT Board
• Assist in maintaining the treatment area so patients receive care in a safe, tidy environment
• Participate in patient care and rehabilitation conferences to coordinate a seamless plan of care
• Instruct patients, families, and nursing staff in maintenance programs and caregiver training for successful discharge
• Assist nursing with training restorative aides to extend quality care across the facility
• Report equipment problems and help ensure all tools are maintained in good working order
• Participate in in-service training to keep skills sharp and share best practices with colleagues

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Physical Therapy Assistant in the state of California (must maintain license in good standing)
• Proficient computer skills with experience inputting data into Casamba and PointClickCare
• Ability to document treatment changes and progress per facility policy and PT Board requirements
• Strong communication skills and the ability to relate positively and professionally with patients, families, and the healthcare team
• Meets continuing education requirements per state practice

Education

• Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant (per state board requirements)
• Must meet ongoing continuing education requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient treatment and hands-on rehabilitation techniques
• Treatment documentation per PT Board standards
• Caregiver and family instruction to support post-discharge success
• Effective communication with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Treatment area cleaning and basic equipment maintenance
• Experience supporting restorative aides and participating in rehabilitation conferences
