Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality mammography exams following department and radiologist protocols
• Provide clear patient education and compassionate care throughout imaging procedures
• Maintain regulatory compliance with FDA and accreditation requirements and keep records current
• Complete daily QA and preventative maintenance checks and coordinate service when needed
• Verify orders, confirm patient identity with two identifiers, obtain informed consent, and document medical history
• Maintain accurate patient records, including charging and documentation in the EHR, PACS, and RIS
• Suggest improvements to procedures and participate in quality improvement initiatives
• Assist with clerical duties, patient transportation, and cross-train or train staff as needed
• Manage supply ordering and inventory to keep the mammography unit running smoothly

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program
• ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M) required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States
• Successful background check and pre-employment drug screen required
• Preferred two years of experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist and cross-training in CT and MRI
• Experience with PACS and RIS/HIS is preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced mammography image acquisition and patient positioning
• Strong understanding of radiation safety and ALARA principles
• Familiarity with PACS, RIS, and EHR documentation and charge capture
• Quality assurance and preventative maintenance procedures for imaging equipment
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate service calls
• Excellent patient communication and education skills
• Comfort performing clerical tasks and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
