Roles & Responsibilities

Perform transthoracic, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, and transesophageal echocardiograms accurately and efficiently
Conduct exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiography to provide critical diagnostic data
Perform EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis, and cardiac stress testing as assigned
Operate and maintain echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, and Holter monitors to ensure high-quality diagnostic output
Use hospital information systems to schedule studies, process results, and ensure correct charging and documentation
Implement infection control practices, including aseptic technique and equipment disinfection
Provide preceptorship and clinical guidance to students from contracted colleges and universities
Deliver age-specific care across the lifespan, including neonatal and pediatric cardiac diagnostic testing

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS/RCS/ARDMS or equivalent) required
Successful completion of an echocardiography certification program or a minimum of 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
Preferred: Certificate in Cardiovascular Sonography and extensive hospital experience, including pediatric and neonatal echocardiography

Education

High School Diploma or GED required
Preferred: Cardiovascular Sonography certificate or completion of an accredited echocardiography program

Knowledge & Skills

Skilled in transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography techniques
Proficient with M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, exercise and pharmacologic stress echo
Experience with EKGs, Holter monitoring and cardiac stress testing
Competent in clinical scheduling, billing/charging systems, and electronic health records
Strong infection control and equipment disinfection practices
Ability to teach and precept students and junior staff
