Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and accurately document patient information in the medical record to ensure safe, coordinated care
• Maintain and organize patient charts and medical data so clinicians have what they need when they need it
• Ensure medication and immunization records are current and help identify patients overdue for preventive care
• Prepare patients for exams and minor procedures and assist providers during treatments
• Perform specimen collection and Point of Care Testing following established protocols
• Administer immunizations and injections as ordered by providers
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition, acting promptly on signs that require intervention
• Support clinic flow by transporting patients, setting up equipment, and ensuring exam rooms are ready
• Provide cross-coverage and teamwork support across clinic sites to maintain excellent patient access
• Participate in staff meetings and contribute to unit goals and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III OR Alaska Paramedic Certification OR Nursing Degree from an accredited institution (one of these is required)
• Current Alaska certification (or ability to obtain) required
• Experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
• Comfortable using Electronic Medical Record systems and medical equipment (EKG, pulse oximeter, BP cuff, cardiac monitor)
• Strong communication, customer service, and teamwork skills

Education

• High school diploma or GED (required)
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR EMT III OR Alaska Paramedic Certification OR Nursing Degree (acceptable alternates)

Knowledge & Skills

• Age-appropriate vital signs and patient observation
• Specimen collection, labeling, and transport procedures
• Point of Care Testing (POCT) and basic lab protocols
• Immunization administration and record keeping
• Familiarity with clinic procedures and patient visit workflow
• Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications
• Medical terminology and emergency response awareness
