Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Day shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), variable/no set schedule; includes weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and holidays. Night shifts are part of the rotation and orientation for night hires may require 2-3 days of day shift.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform continuous remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms from a centralized monitoring station
• Accurately recognize, record and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias
• Follow established command center policies and communication protocols to notify local RN staff of changes
• Use GE and Ascom monitoring systems and document events in Cerner per facility procedures
• Support patient safety and department metrics by taking appropriate, timely actions per protocols
• Collaborate with Charge Nurse/House Supervisor, Nursing leadership and cross-train into related roles as needed
• Participate in unit-specific orientation, including mandatory in-person sessions with vendor teams when required

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation
• Minimum 2 years recent related work experience preferred (3 years preferred; will consider strong candidates with less)
• BLS certification required
• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting assignment (lethal rhythms are pass/fail with one attempt)
• Availability to avoid holding another job while on assignment
• Availability for required weekends and holidays, and 2-3 day shifts for orientation if hired for nights
• Comfort working in a centralized/virtual monitoring environment and ability to monitor large patient ratios

Education

• Graduation from an accredited cardiac/monitoring or related program that includes EKG interpretation

Knowledge & Skills

• EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Advanced dysrhythmia knowledge
• Telemetry/remote monitoring and central monitoring station workflows
• Experience with GE and Ascom monitoring equipment
• Familiarity with Cerner charting
• Strong communication skills to escalate events to nursing staff
• Attention to detail, protocol adherence, and ability to work independently in a virtual setting
