Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate patient care as the Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department, ensuring safe and effective operations during your shift
• Triage and assess patients quickly, applying sound clinical judgment to prioritize care
• Provide high-quality direct nursing care including stabilization and treatment for emergency presentations
• Delegate tasks, supervise staff, and support team workflow to maintain efficient patient throughput
• Communicate clearly with physicians, ancillary teams, patients and families to ensure coordinated care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient record and participate in shift handoffs
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement and help foster a positive, collaborative culture

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (must be eligible to practice in Nebraska or willing to obtain state licensure)
• Emergency Department experience with prior Charge Nurse or leadership experience preferred
• Comfortable and experienced with 12-hour night shifts and flexible scheduling (nights, weekends, holidays)
• ENPC certification preferred
• Ability to start quickly and adapt to a fast-paced ED environment

Education

• Active RN license required
• Nursing degree (ADN or BSN) - degree preferences may vary by facility
• ENPC preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong emergency assessment and triage skills
• Proven leadership and team coordination as a charge nurse
• Excellent clinical judgment and ability to prioritize in high-acuity situations
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
• Accurate documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records workflows
• Calm under pressure and skilled at rapid decision-making
