Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (12-hour day shift option). Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU using evidence-based practices
• Manage ventilators and central lines safely and accurately for critically ill infants
• Perform admission, assessment, and ongoing monitoring using MEDITECH charting
• Collaborate with neonatology, OB/GYN, midwives, and transport teams to coordinate seamless care
• Serve as a baby nurse/transition nurse on Mother-Baby or L&D when floating is required
• Apply critical thinking to prioritize care, respond to changes, and escalate concerns promptly
• Participate in orientation skills assessment and demonstrate competency with unit protocols

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license (required)
• Minimum 3 years of NICU experience (required)
• Current BLS and NRP certifications (required at hire)
• Demonstrated experience with ventilator management and central line care
• Comfortable floating to Mother-Baby or L&D when needed
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used for radius eligibility)
• Ability to pass orientation skills exam (90% required to continue assignment)
• Must not be employed as FT/PT/PRN by any facility associated with CommonSpirit (CHI/Dignity) within 50-mile radius

Education

• Active RN license (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal care and assessment across levels of acuity (continuous, intermediate, intensive)
• Ventilator management for neonates
• Central line management and infection prevention
• MEDITECH electronic charting experience
• Strong communication, multi-tasking, and critical thinking skills
• Familiarity with AWHONN and NANN guidelines and neonatal transport processes
• Ability to work independently and function effectively in a high-risk Level III environment
