Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts; weekend rotation (3 shifts per 4-week period), self-scheduling

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide specialized nursing care to neuro acute patients in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
Monitor and interpret 24-48 hour trend EEGs, detect subtle changes in patient condition
Perform comprehensive assessments including cranial nerve evaluations
Administer medications, manage IV lines, and maintain sterile field during procedures
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including neurologists, hospitalists, and RTs
Educate patients and families on epilepsy management and post-surgical care

Qualifications

Valid RN license and willingness to obtain multi-state compact license (if applicable)
BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA)
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in Med Surg/Tele or neuro acute care
Ability to pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts
Successful completion of SIMs lab with Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
Travel teams must have own vehicle; 50-mile radius rule applies

Education

Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Strong critical thinking and assessment skills
Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
Sterile technique for catheter insertion and dressing changes
Experience with Cerner charting system
Cranial nerve assessment and neuro assessment skills
Effective communication and teamwork abilities
