Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform specimen processing, testing, and reporting of results with accuracy and care
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and TCRHCC's quality patient care goals
• Rotate through lab sub-specialties including chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, blood bank, microbiology, and clinical microscopy
• Maintain 24-hour lab coverage, including weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime
• Collaborate with a diverse medical team to deliver timely diagnostics

Qualifications

• Current ASCP or AMT certification required (must obtain within 18 months of hire if not already certified)
• For Medical Lab Technician: High school diploma/GED plus 60 hours of college coursework with specific science credits OR completion of military lab specialist course
• For Medical Lab Scientist: Bachelor's degree with 48 semester hours in medical lab technology or related science coursework
• Minimum 6 months bench experience (MLT) or 1 year clinical lab experience (MLS) in blood bank, micro, chemistry, and heme
• Must have active state license (AZ) or compact eligibility

Education

• MLT: High school graduate or GED plus specific coursework (60 hours) or military lab technician training
• MLS: Baccalaureate degree from accredited institution with required science credits

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, and hematology testing
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• Familiarity with lab information systems and quality control procedures
