Roles & Responsibilities

• Analyze laboratory findings to ensure accuracy of test results and provide high-quality patient care
• Enter clinical data from medical tests into computer systems for reliable record-keeping
• Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance
• Collect and study blood samples to determine cell counts, morphology, and blood type for transfusions
• Perform chemical analysis of body fluids including blood, urine, and spinal fluid to detect abnormalities
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain equipment for quantitative and qualitative analysis in chemistry, hematology, and microbiology
• Establish and monitor quality assurance programs to ensure accurate laboratory results
• Provide technical information about test results to physicians, patients, and researchers

Qualifications

• Washington MA Phlebotomy license is required
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician
• Certification from HEW, ASCP, AMT, or NCA is required
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced lab
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality patient care

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in phlebotomy, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank procedures
• Experience with laboratory equipment operation, calibration, and maintenance
• Knowledge of quality control procedures and laboratory quality improvement programs
• Ability to perform specimen collection on patients of all age groups
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for interpreting laboratory results
• Computer literacy for data entry and instrument operation
