Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to laboring mothers, newborns, and postpartum patients in a rural LDRP setting
• Triage incoming patients and manage active labor, including Pitocin titration and fetal monitoring via OBIX
• Serve as the baby catcher and transition nurse for newborns, ensuring safe delivery and immediate neonatal assessment
• Collaborate with a small team, acting as charge nurse when needed while maintaining your own patient assignment
• Support gynecological surgical patients and assist with C-sections as part of the unit's scope
• Adapt to a fast-paced, low-volume environment where you're the expert for both mom and baby

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of recent L&D experience with LDRP training required
• Active RN license in Colorado or compact state, plus NLC if applicable
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Ability to triage independently and function as a primary nurse for both mother and newborn
• Comfort with titrating Pitocin and managing active labor without in-house OB support (20-minute response time)
• Strong teamwork skills in a rural hospital setting with limited ancillary staff

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in L&D, LDRP, triage, and baby catching/transition nursing
• Proficiency with EFM systems, specifically OBIX
• Skills in Pitocin titration and management of high-risk labor scenarios
• Ability to work autonomously as one of two nurses on shift
• Knowledge of AWHONN staffing guidelines and rural healthcare dynamics
