Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality hospice nursing care to patients in the home or inpatient settings
• Assess patient condition, manage symptoms, and implement individualized care plans
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and family members to support goals of care
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about symptom management, medications and comfort measures
• Advocate for patient dignity and comfort while delivering compassionate end of life care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (RN) in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience as listed in the job details
• Experience or strong interest in hospice or palliative care
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Strong clinical assessment, communication and family support skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Symptom and pain management for serious illness
• Comfort with end of life care and bereavement support
• Proficient clinical documentation and care planning
• Ability to work independently and prioritize in a community-based setting
• Empathy, cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal skills
