Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate emergency nursing care for a high-volume ED population
• Perform triage, rapid assessment and prioritization to keep patient flow moving
• Deliver evidence-based interventions and advanced emergency procedures as needed
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Cerner to maintain continuity of care
• Coach and give real-time feedback to colleagues to support team growth and safe practice
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, techs and unit clerks to optimize patient outcomes
• Support patient experience initiatives using AIDET and respectful communication throughout visits
• Float across ED sections as needed while maintaining unit-specific standards and guidelines

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (NC licensure required for practice)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with at least 1 year in an Emergency Department
• Experience in a Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) preferred
• Current BLS and ACLS prior to start; PALS, TNCC, CPI and NIHSS required before start; ENPC within 90 days of hire
• Demonstrated teamwork mentality with ability to coach and provide feedback in real time
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and open to floating within ED sections
• Previous HCA experience preferred (nice to have)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Experience with Baxter infusion pumps and GE patient monitors
• Strong cardiac monitoring and acute stroke recognition skills (NIHSS familiarity)
• Triage expertise and the ability to prioritize high-acuity patients
• Excellent communication skills focused on patient experience and AIDET principles
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused emergency department
