Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations with professionalism and sensitivity
• Perform Separation Health Assessments and one-time non-treatment evaluations
• Lead interview-based assessments and appropriate physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Document exam findings thoroughly and submit timely reports and required addendums
• Provide clear medical opinions and review diagnostics as required
• Complete required training and credentialing to meet VES standards
• Follow non-treatment protocols (no prescribing or ongoing treatment) and maintain confidentiality

Qualifications

• Board-eligible or board-certified Physician (MD or DO preferred)
• Experience or comfort with Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams or general medicine evaluations preferred
• Acceptable specialties include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or general medicine background
• Access to a provider office within a 50-mile radius if selecting the provider-owned-office option
• Ability to perform interview-based exams and basic physical assessments (range of motion, muscle strength)
• Willingness to complete required VES training and credentialing promptly
• Strong medical documentation skills and attention to detail

Education

• MD or DO (or equivalent physician degree) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical examination and physical assessment techniques
• Interview-based assessment skills and structured history-taking
• Range of motion testing and muscle strength testing
• Medical documentation and report writing for disability evaluations
• Ability to form concise medical opinions and perform diagnostic review
• Familiarity with non-treatment exam protocols and standards
