Shift Type: Monday-Friday (daytime clinical/hospital schedule; exact day shift times vary), Night call 5:00 PM - 7:00 AM (on-call nights; covers 1-2 weekdays and weekends as scheduled)

Candidate Pay Rate: $126 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert adult patient care across perioperative, ICU and inpatient settings for cardiothoracic patients
• Support and assist in the operating room for cardiothoracic procedures and collaborate with surgical teams
• Manage post-operative and ICU patients, including admissions, daily management and discharge planning
• Perform and support required cardiothoracic procedures such as on‑pump CABG and valvular repair/replacement
• Triage and manage acute volume and blood pressure issues; initiate appropriate interventions
• Document patient encounters thoroughly in EPIC and coordinate care with RN navigators and physicians
• Respond to on-call events and provide timely patient contact and clinical decision-making during nights and weekends
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and streamline transitions of care

Qualifications

• Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Washington or eligibility to obtain WA licensure
• Demonstrated cardiothoracic surgery experience in both the OR and acute care/ICU settings
• Proven experience with adult inpatient admissions, ICU management and perioperative support
• Comfortable assisting with or supporting procedures such as on-pump CABG and valvular surgeries
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications (or willingness to obtain promptly)
• Experience using EPIC for inpatient documentation and order entry
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, physicians, midlevels and RN staff
• Willingness to complete credentialing (facility notes ~3+ months) and start as soon as credentialed

Education

• Master’s degree (MSN) or Post-graduate Nurse Practitioner certificate (required for NP role)

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative and operating room workflow for cardiothoracic procedures
• ICU-level monitoring and management, including ventilator familiarity
• Acute care patient evaluation and management (hemodynamics, volume/BP issues)
• Post-operative surgical patient care including drains, chest tubes and post-op complications
• Familiarity with LVAD care, central line insertion support and critical care procedures (preferred)
• Proficient EPIC documentation and electronic order management
• Ability to prioritize admissions, ICU patients and operative cases effectively
