Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night 3x12-hour, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (3 nights/week, schedule varies). Note: Orientation includes Week 1 Mon-Fri dayshift and Week 2: 36 hours on-unit orientation with a preceptor. Shift assignments reviewed each 4-week scheduling period; may include day/night rotation based on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity progressive care nursing for medical oncology patients on a telemetry unit
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to guide care and escalate when needed
- Manage central lines, PICC and peripheral IVs, access ports, and administer blood products safely
- Support patients on advanced respiratory modalities including HFNC and BiPAP/CPAP and assist with ABG interpretation
- Respond effectively as part of rapid response and code teams to ensure patient safety
- Deliver compassionate care for patients with solid tumors, thoracic, and orthopedic oncology diagnoses while following infection prevention protocols
- Document care accurately in Epic and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work) for coordinated care
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Ohio (compact state license accepted if valid for practice)
- BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS required
- High-acuity PCU or telemetry nursing experience required; oncology experience preferred
- Must meet specialty experience requirements within the past 3 years and have at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
- Proficiency with Epic charting required
- Comfort with and experience in central line, PICC, and peripheral IV care and blood product administration
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity and work variable weekend coverage
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and interpretation of cardiac dysrhythmias
- Cardiac drip management (no titration) and familiarity with heparin protocols
- IV therapy skills including starting and maintaining IVs, PICC and central line management
- Respiratory support knowledge: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management and tracheostomy care
- ABG interpretation and basic ventilatory support recognition
- Feeding tube care, port access/management, and PCA pump operation
- Infection prevention practices and PPE compliance
- Familiarity with Alaris pumps, GE/B450 telemetry systems, bladder scanners, continuous bladder irrigation and Stryker beds
