Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, age-appropriate direct personal care to assigned residents, including ADLs such as bathing, feeding, and dressing
• Take and record vital signs, measure intake/output, and report abnormal signs promptly
• Assist with restorative care, including use of assistive devices and range-of-motion activities
• Observe, document, and communicate changes in physical or mental condition to the care team
• Follow infection control protocols and universal precautions to maintain a safe environment
• Support patient rights and dignity while promoting independence and comfort
• Participate in the treatment team and follow care plans and nursing instructions
• Maintain accurate documentation and timely reporting of incidents and care provided

Qualifications

• Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification required
• At least 6 months of experience in a long-term care (LTC) or medically oriented facility
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Workers — must be obtained within six months of employment
• Demonstrated basic nursing skills (vital signs, measuring output, recognizing abnormal signs)
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand simple sentences in English
• Previous Hawaii experience is a plus

Knowledge & Skills

• Activities of daily living (ADLs) and restorative care techniques
• Taking and interpreting vital signs and basic patient assessment
• Infection control, universal precautions, and basic first aid
• Safe body mechanics and proper use of assistive devices
• Documentation, reporting, and familiarity with medical/nursing terminology
• Strong observation skills, clear oral & written communication, and cultural competence
• Patience, tact, and the ability to handle challenging behaviors with respect
