Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and maintain a comprehensive risk management program in accordance with Alaska statutes, ensuring patient safety is front and center
• Investigate, evaluate, and report adverse incidents per regulatory reporting requirements
• Coordinate disclosure and follow-up with patients, families, and the healthcare team after adverse events
• Direct and facilitate Patient Safety Rounds to identify opportunities for system improvements
• Plan and lead Root Cause Analyses (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) to reduce recurrence of adverse events
• Provide risk management and patient safety education to staff, physicians, and leadership
• Conduct chart audits and clinical reviews to support accreditation and quality improvement efforts
• Collaborate with Medical Directors, Chief Medical Officer, and Corporate Counsel on peer review and quality-of-care issues
• Monitor regulatory and statutory changes (DNV, TJC, CMS, CARF) and drive organizational compliance and adaptation
• Serve as a resource, mentor, and role model—influencing process improvements that reduce medical errors and improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Current full, unrestricted, active Registered Nursing license in Alaska required
• CPHRM certification required within two (2) years of hire
• Clinical competency validation required within 3 months and every 3 years thereafter
• Minimum 3 years experience monitoring risk management, patient safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
• Proven leadership in facilitating cross-functional teams and collaborating across clinical and administrative stakeholders
• Direct hire candidates must have applied for an Alaska nursing license before the start date; agency staff must hold an active Alaska RN license

Education

• Active Registered Nursing license in Alaska (required)
• CPHRM certification (to be attained within two years if not already held)
