Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiogram studies (Transthoracic 2-D, M-Mode, Color-flow Doppler, Transesophageal, exercise and pharmacologic stress echocardiography) accurately and efficiently
• Carry out other cardiac diagnostics including EKGs, Holter prep/monitoring/analysis and cardiac stress testing
• Operate and maintain diagnostic equipment (echocardiographs, cardiac stress systems, electrocardiographs, Holter monitors) and use computer analysis tools to deliver high-quality data to cardiologists
• Manage scheduling, processing and correct charging of studies within hospital information systems
• Implement infection control practices, aseptic technique and equipment disinfection to keep patients and staff safe
• Provide age-specific care across the lifespan, with an emphasis on neonatal and pediatric patients
• Serve as a professional resource and preceptor — mentor students from contracted colleges and universities
• Perform all duties within hospital policy and current standards of care

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential required
• Successful completion of a cardiovascular sonography certification program and/or a minimum of 2 years hands-on echocardiography experience
• Preferred: extensive hospital echocardiography experience and strong background in pediatric and neonatal studies
• Comfortable precepting and teaching students from partner programs

Education

• High School Diploma or GED (required)
• Certificate Program in Cardiovascular Sonography (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in transthoracic, transesophageal and stress echocardiography techniques
• Experienced with EKGs, Holter monitoring and Holter analysis
• Skilled at operating echocardiograph machines, cardiac stress systems and electrocardiographs
• Familiarity with hospital scheduling and charging workflows within clinical information systems
• Strong infection control, aseptic technique and equipment disinfection practices
• Ability to provide compassionate, age-specific care (neonatal through adult)
• Good clinical judgment, attention to detail and effective communication with physicians and nursing staff
