Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for oncology, hematology and sickle cell patients in the Immediate Care Center
• Triage patients and prioritize care using sound clinical judgment and collaboration with APPs and ED physicians
• Start and maintain IVs, perform phlebotomy, and manage central lines with attention to safety and infection control
• Administer blood products and monitor patients closely for transfusion reactions
• Monitor cardiac status, interpret dysrhythmias and obtain 12-lead EKGs as needed
• Document patient care accurately in EPIC and ensure continuity of care across teams
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans, symptom management and follow-up instructions
• Respond quickly to emergencies and activate rapid response when required

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (state of Ohio or compact) — required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience (must meet experience within the last 3 years)
• Minimum 1 year of travel nursing experience — HARD STOP, required
• EPIC charting experience — required
• BCLS/BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications — required
• PALS preferred
• Experience with blood product administration, central line care and cardiac monitoring
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

• Epic electronic health record proficiency
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills
• Blood product administration and transfusion monitoring

• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• Triage and emergency nursing skills
• Familiarity with oncology, hematology and sickle cell patient needs
• Use of isolation precautions and PPE
