Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical ventilation and wean patients safely from support, using modes like BiPAP and CPAP
• Perform airway management including intubation support, extubation and tracheostomy care
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and contribute to rapid, evidence-based respiratory plans
• Administer respiratory medications and set up aerosol/MDI delivery systems accurately
• Provide neonatal and pediatric respiratory support when needed, including high-risk delivery assistance
• Operate and troubleshoot ventilators and Draeger equipment (preferred) during critical events
• Document care thoroughly in Epic and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
• Participate in patient care activities across age groups from neonates to geriatrics with professionalism and compassion

Qualifications

• Active RRT credential (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
• Washington state license required
• ACLS and PALS required
• NRP preferred; BLS recommended
• Minimum 1 year of clinical respiratory experience
• Proficiency with Epic charting (charting system required)
• Comfort working in critical care, emergency department and pediatrics/NICU settings preferred
• Completion of 24-hour orientation as provided by the facility

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms and ventilator weaning
• Airway management and suctioning (oral/nasal, tracheostomy care)
• Oxygen therapy including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and trach collar
• Nebulizer setups (hand-held, T-piece, trach collar) and medication delivery systems
• Interpretation of ABGs and basic EKG knowledge
• Familiarity with pediatric/neonatal procedures such as umbilical blood gases and delivery assistance
• Experience with aerosol therapies, inhaled nitric oxide, and a broad range of respiratory medications
• Comfort working with trauma and critical care patient populations
