Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (orientation Week 1: Monday-Friday dayshift; Week 2: 36 hours on-unit orientation with preceptor). Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period; schedule may include days or a combination of day/night depending on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity progressive care nursing for oncology and telemetry patients, delivering safe, evidence-based care
- Monitor telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to rapidly identify changes in patient condition
- Manage vascular access including peripheral IVs, PICCs and central lines and perform blood product administration safely
- Support respiratory needs: manage BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care and interpretation of ABGs
- Administer and monitor PCA and continuous bladder irrigation, chest tube systems and advanced pumps
- Follow strict infection prevention and isolation precautions to protect vulnerable oncology patients
- Collaborate with rapid response/code teams and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate timely, compassionate care
- Float to equivalent or lower acuity units as needed while maintaining high standards of patient care
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) credentials appropriate for practice (agency RN role expected)
- BCLS/BLS, ACLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years total experience noted; oncology experience preferred but not required
- Must meet experience requirements within the 3 most recent years and have at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
- Charting experience in Epic required
- Ability and willingness to float to other PCU/MedSurg Oncology units
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
- Central line, PICC and peripheral IV management and IV insertion
- Port access and feeding tube care/management
- Blood product administration and adherence to heparin protocols
- Management of PCA, cardiac drips (management and titration where authorized) and insulin drip protocols
- Chest tube care (Emerson/Pleur-evac), HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP and non-invasive airway support
- ABG interpretation, wound care/Wound VAC familiarity and phlebotomy (preferred)
- Strong infection prevention/PPE practices and teamwork with rapid response/code teams
