Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts per week, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM; schedule assignments reviewed every 4 weeks; may include days or a combination of days/nights depending on department needs (rotating as needed)
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate palliative and symptom management care for adults with serious, life-limiting illness
- Assess and manage pain, nausea, fatigue and other distressing symptoms to improve patient comfort and quality of life
- Administer medications and manage IVs, central lines and ports safely and effectively
- Document patient care accurately in Epic and communicate changes in condition to the interdisciplinary team
- Support patients and families through goal-setting, advanced directives conversations, and end-of-life care planning
- Collaborate with pharmacy, social work, PT, RT and other services to coordinate holistic patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families on symptom management, medication use and post-discharge planning
- Participate in bereavement, perideath and postmortem care with sensitivity and professionalism
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) required
- Minimum 2 years RN experience required
- BLS required
- Epic experience required (charting system mandatory)
- ACLS preferred
- Previous travel experience preferred
- Ability and willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Comfort working with adult and geriatric patient populations in a palliative care setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Palliative care principles and symptom assessment/management
- Pain management including opioid dosing concepts and equianalgesic dosing
- Medication administration and PCA pump familiarity
- IV management, phlebotomy, starting and maintaining peripheral IVs, and central line/port care
- Use of pain scales (verbal and nonverbal) and pharmacologic/non-pharmacologic interventions
- Advanced directives, withholding/withdrawing treatment, and ethical/legal aspects of end-of-life care
- Perideath, bereavement planning and culturally aware, family-centered care
- Strong Epic documentation skills and interdisciplinary communication
