Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures, including prep, monitoring during procedures, and post-procedure recovery
• Administer and monitor conscious/moderate sedation, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout
• Start and maintain IV access, manage medications, and perform phlebotomy as needed
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and intervene appropriately for dysrhythmias
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate imaging services (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine) and procedure logistics
• Participate in rapid response and emergency care when required, including administration of reversal agents
• Adhere to CDC standard precautions and isolation/PPE protocols to maintain a safe environment
• Float to other UCSF facilities as needed to support staffing and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license (required)
• AHA BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 3 years of Interventional Radiology (IR) RN experience (required)
• Moderate sedation competency in IR and Neuro IR (required)
• Ability to float to other UCSF facilities (required)
• Preferred experience in ICU, ED, PACU, or other procedural areas
• Radiology Imaging Nursing Certification (preferred)
• PALS (preferred)
• COVID-19 vaccine and booster required per facility guidelines (medical/religious exemptions only)

Knowledge & Skills

• Administering and monitoring conscious/moderate sedation
• IV therapy, starting and maintaining IVs, and phlebotomy
• Medication management and bar code medication administration
• Radiology/imaging nursing across CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine
• Interpretation and management of cardiac dysrhythmias
• Pre- and post-procedure care and patient education
• Isolation precautions, PPE use, and infection control
• Rapid response and emergency interventions, including reversal agents
• Comfort working in MRI environments and wearing lead apron as needed
