Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality med-surg nursing care on a 32-bed orthopedics unit
• Perform patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and report clinical changes promptly
• Administer medications and IV therapy safely and according to protocol
• Manage NG tubes, Foley catheters, wound VACs, and post-operative care needs
• Assist with safe patient handling including Hoyer lifts and traction management
• Document patient care accurately in the EMR (Meditech) and communicate with the care team
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and support staff to coordinate patient-focused care
• Maintain time management and prioritization to support 1:5-1:7 patient ratios

Qualifications

• Active LVN/LPN license (Texas) in good standing
• Minimum 1 year acute care experience, preferably medical-surgical
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification or ability to obtain prior to start
• Comfortable with NG tube management, IV therapy, Foley care, wound VACs, and Hoyer lifts
• Flexible with schedule and able to work rotating weekends
• Experience with Meditech charting is a plus

Education

• Vocational Nursing diploma or equivalent (typical for LVN/LPN roles)

Knowledge & Skills

• Meditech EMR documentation and charting
• Medical-surgical nursing principles and post-operative care
• NG tube placement/management and IV placement/therapy
• Foley catheter management and wound VAC care
• Safe patient handling techniques including Hoyer lift use
• Traction management and care for orthopedic post-op patients
• Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills
