Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide quality nursing care to residents, honoring patient rights and dignity
- Work as an active member of the nursing team using your LPN scope of practice
- Assess patient conditions and use clinical reasoning to prioritize care
- Administer medications and IVs in accordance with facility policies and training
- Communicate clearly with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary staff
- Document care and write reports that support continuity and safety
- Maintain required competencies and participate in unit committees as asked
Qualifications
- Current LPN license in good standing with the State of Alaska (required)
- Graduate of an LPN/LVN program (minimum education requirement)
- Current BCLS/CPR and BLS certifications required
- IV certification required or willingness to complete course prior to/at start
- New graduates accepted; one (1) year hospital or long-term care experience preferred
- Ability to pass and maintain position-specific competencies
- Strong communication skills and cultural competency for working with diverse populations
Education
- Graduate of an LPN/LVN school
Knowledge & Skills
- Quality nursing care and adherence to scope of practice
- Patient communication, report writing, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Clinical reasoning and practical problem solving in variable situations
- Basic mathematical skills for medication calculations and documentation
- Familiarity with long-term care workflows and patient-centered practices
- Experience or comfort with Dynamapp, Datascope, and pulse oximetry equipment
- Cultural competency to work effectively with local communities and non-English speakers
