Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients
• Perform thorough assessments and monitor patient status using clinical judgment
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document per policy
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, medications and discharge plans
• Complete required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain clinical standards
• Maintain timely, compliant documentation and participate in unit safety initiatives
• Adhere to infection control, immunization and health screening requirements

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (Iowa license preferred or eligible)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
• NIHSS certification listed as required/desired for this role
• Ability to pass Trinity specialty competency testing and Trinity skills checklist
• Completion of required health screenings and immunizations (TB/PPD or IGRA, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Influenza, drug screen, fit test, physical/health statement)
• Current license/certificate verification and background checks as required
• Previous medical-surgical nursing experience preferred (per diem/PRN experience a plus)

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong medical-surgical assessment and clinical decision-making
• Safe medication administration and documentation practices
• Patient education and discharge planning skills
• Ability to work independently in a per diem setting and integrate with unit teams quickly
• Familiarity with competency testing and unit-specific skills validation
• Excellent communication, organization and time-management skills
• Commitment to infection prevention and workplace safety protocols
