Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts (typically 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) with required availability for 2-3 day shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) for orientation; weekends required (must work 4 weekend shifts per schedule; for nightshift weekends are Friday and Saturday); holidays required. No set schedules.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform remote surveillance of cardio-pulmonary rhythms from the central monitoring unit and accurately recognize changes in cardiac rhythm
• Record and report potentially dangerous rhythm changes and arrhythmias following established protocols
• Notify local RN staff promptly and follow established communication channels during routine and emergency situations
• Operate and monitor GE and Ascom monitoring systems and maintain situation awareness across up to 45-60 patients
• Follow command center policy and escalation procedures to support patient safety and department metrics
• Collaborate with Charge Nurse, House Supervisor, and leadership to ensure coverage and quality monitoring
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and mandatory in-person GE team training when required

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited program that includes EKG interpretation
• Minimum 2 years of recent related work experience; 3 years preferred
• BLS certification required
• Must pass Advanced Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting assignment (lethal rhythms are pass/fail with one attempt)
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
• Must be available for 2-3 day shifts for orientation if hired for night positions
• No other concurrent assignment permitted while on this assignment
• Willingness to follow a strict no-cell-phone policy; hospital will provide a work phone

Education

• Graduation from an accredited clinical program that includes EKG interpretation
• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and remote central monitoring expertise
• EKG interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Advanced dysrhythmia recognition
• Experience with GE and Ascom monitoring equipment
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system
• Strong communication and escalation skills within clinical command center workflows
• Comfort working independently while collaborating with remote RN leadership
