Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform aseptic instrument and tray assembly with meticulous attention to detail
• Decontaminate, clean and prepare surgical instruments using washers, ultrasonic cleaners and AERs
• Execute high-level disinfection and flexible endoscope reprocessing (bronchoscopes, colonoscopes, EGD, ERCP, EBUS, EUS, etc.)
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment (Steam, Steris, Sterrad) and maintain biological and chemical indicator records
• Document processing and instrument tracking using Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and chart in Epic as required
• Manage loaner/consignment trays and specialty equipment processing for robotics, orthopedics, ophthalmology and more
• Collaborate with Surgical Services/OR teams to ensure instruments are on-time and procedure-ready
• Maintain compliance with infection control standards, labeling procedures and sterilization monitoring

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of travel sterile processing experience (experienced travelers only)
• Hands-on experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing and high-level disinfection
• Familiarity with Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) and electronic charting (Epic required)
• Experience with sterilizers and monitoring: Steris, Sterrad, steam sterilization, biological/chemical indicators
• Comfort processing specialty and robotics equipment and handling loaner trays
• Preferred certifications: CBSPD, IAHCSMM and/or HSPA
• Able to complete a 40-hour orientation and adapt to short term acute care / Level III trauma center workflows
• COVID-19 vaccine: Not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Aseptic technique and sterilization wrapping procedures
• Instrument/tray assembly and proper labeling
• Decontamination: manual cleaning, chemical agents, ultrasonic cleaning, AER operation
• Flexible endoscope reprocessing across a wide range of scopes (EGD, colonoscopes, EBUS, EUS, ERCP, etc.)
• Operation and testing/monitoring of Steris and Sterrad sterilization systems
• Use of Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) for instrument tracking and documentation
• High-level disinfection (HLD) practices and sterilization monitoring (biological & chemical indicators)
• Experience with specialty equipment processing (robotics, ortho, cardiac, ophthalmology, urology, etc.)
