Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care for cardiovascular surgery patients.
• Assist the surgical team as a scrub or circulator during CVOR procedures.
• Monitor patient status intraoperatively and support hemodynamic management.
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure adherence to OR safety protocols.
• Perform accurate and timely documentation and communicate clear handoffs.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiology, perfusion, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes.
• Participate in equipment setup, instrument counts, and post-op patient transfers.

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) credential — CVOR specialty experience required
• Minimum of 1 year experience in cardiovascular surgery or CVOR nursing (as indicated in posting)
• Current BLS; advanced certifications such as ACLS are highly valued
• Comfort working in a high-acuity OR environment and supporting complex cardiac cases
• Ability to pass facility onboarding and credentialing for travel assignments

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, common cardiac procedures, and intraoperative workflows
• Proficiency with sterile technique, instrumentation, and OR safety protocols
• Skilled in patient monitoring, hemodynamic assessment, and rapid decision-making
• Clear communication skills for effective handoffs and multidisciplinary collaboration
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and time-management abilities
