Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage ventilators for critically ill neonates using conventional and high-frequency modalities, ensuring safe, individualized respiratory support
• Attend high-risk deliveries to provide immediate neonatal respiratory stabilization and resuscitation
• Perform blood gas acquisition and interpretation to guide timely ventilator and medication adjustments
• Administer surfactant and manage post-procedure respiratory care with precision and compassion
• Deliver inhaled nitric oxide therapy and monitor response and safety parameters
• Collaborate with NICU team members to develop and implement respiratory care plans, communicate changes, and support family-centered care

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
• NRP certification required
• Level 3 NICU experience preferred (candidates with 3–5 years Level 2 NICU experience may be considered)
• Minimum experience noted in posting: 1 year (see unit preference for Level 3 experience)
• Comfort with high-acuity neonatal procedures and ability to work independently on nights

Education

• Completion of an accredited respiratory therapy program and RRT credential (respiratory therapy education/certificate/associate degree)

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in ventilator management including Drager VN500 ventilators and 3100A oscillators
• Experience with high frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV) and Vapotherm devices
• Proficiency in nitric oxide therapy (Mallinckrodt) and surfactant administration
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and NRP protocols
• Strong blood gas acquisition and interpretation abilities
• Familiarity with EMRs used on unit: Meditech and NeoNotes
• Positive, detail-oriented approach with strong critical thinking and independent decision-making
