Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia nursing care using ASPAN standards for patients from pediatric through geriatric age groups
• Perform thorough initial assessments and prioritize care based on patient needs and surgical reports
• Develop and implement individualized care plans focusing on airway management, oxygen saturation, and pain control
• Collaborate with physicians, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless patient transitions
• Monitor patient progress toward PACU discharge guidelines and communicate detailed reports to receiving units
• Maintain emergency supplies and equipment readiness while continuously updating your post-anesthesia nursing expertise

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PACU and Critical Care experience preferred
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required and must be maintained
• Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Completion of an accredited registered nurse program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in the nursing process and patient assessment
• Knowledge of anesthetic agents and post-anesthesia care protocols
• Proficiency in pain management modalities
• Strong clinical judgment and emotional resilience when caring for acutely ill patients
• Ability to anticipate and respond to immediate post-anesthesia complications
