Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to medical-surgical patients
• Assess patient condition, identify changes, and implement appropriate interventions
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Monitor and document patient progress, vitals, and clinical findings in the medical record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and discharge instructions
• Participate in unit-based improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (or compact license if applicable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or obtainable
• Previous Med/Surg nursing experience preferred (new grads considered with strong clinical skills)
• Demonstrated ability to work 12-hour shifts and handle a fast-paced unit
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration, and wound care
• Comfortable using electronic medical records (EMR) and documenting accurately
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple patients safely
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
