Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert intrapartum, postpartum and neonatal care for high-risk obstetrical patients
• Circulate for cesarean sections and assist in OR when needed to ensure patient safety
• Conduct obstetrical triage assessments and initiate appropriate interventions
• Perform sterile vaginal exams, immediate newborn care, and neonatal resuscitation when required
• Monitor maternal and fetal cardiac status and respond to dysrhythmias or emergencies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including anesthesia, respiratory therapy and pharmacy
• Document patient care accurately in Epic and support efficient unit flow in a very high-volume setting
• Float within the maternity/high-risk OB areas as needed to meet patient needs

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure (state of practice)
• Minimum of 2 years labor & delivery experience required; 3 years preferred
• Demonstrated experience in high-volume settings — must have experience on units with >300 births/month
• Certifications required: BLS (BCLS), NRP, AWHONN Intermediate (C-EFM accepted in lieu of AWHONN)
• Strong skills in circulating for C-section and immediate newborn care
• Comfort with Epic charting system and Pyxis medication systems
• Ability to handle double labor assignments and high-acuity caseloads
• Willingness to float within the women's unit and work scheduled weekends as required
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guidelines

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and delivery management including high-risk antepartum and postpartum care
• Neonatal resuscitation and infant/neonatal arrest management
• Oxytocin Challenge Tests (OCT) and fetal surveillance
• Obstetrical triage and ability to perform rapid assessments
• Cardiac monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Sterile technique and OR circulation for cesarean sections
• Strong assessment, critical thinking and communication skills using SBAR
• Comfort working in very fast-paced, high-volume environments
