Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to Med/Surg patients, prioritizing safety and dignity
• Assess patient condition, monitor vitals, and communicate changes to the care team promptly
• Administer medications and treatments accurately and document thoroughly
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to develop and follow individualized care plans
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe transitions home
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and maintain best practice standards

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact license holders as applicable
• Experience in Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) nursing (experience preferred but new grads with strong clinical skills may be considered)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) if required by unit
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and multitasking abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing principles and common medical-surgical conditions
• Proficient in medication administration and IV therapy basics
• Good charting and documentation practices; attention to detail
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to changes in patient condition
