Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM and 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM, self-scheduling with every third weekend requirement

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $62 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to a variety of patients including post-surgical orthopedic cases, COPD, diabetes, and sepsis
Administer medications and manage IV infusions including heparin, antibiotics, and pain management
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered care with hourly rounding and bedside shift reporting
Float to PCU and behavioral health units as needed, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
Monitor patients using telemetry and respond promptly to changes in condition

Qualifications

Active RN license in Iowa or compact state
Current BLS certification required
Minimum one year of recent Med Surg or Ortho nursing experience preferred
Ability to pass a 90% open-book skills exam during orientation
Valid driver's license for radius verification

Knowledge & Skills

Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
Ability to manage multiple patient assignments with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
Comfort working with diverse patient populations including those with mental health and addiction histories
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Willingness to float between units and adapt to changing needs
