Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide focused, compassionate nursing care for adults and geriatric patients on a Med-Surg Oncology unit
• Monitor patients continuously with telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely intervention
• Administer and manage IV therapies including IV starts, central/PICC/arterial line care, and blood product administration
• Support chemotherapy-related care and symptom management, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
• Perform patient assessments, manage comorbidities, and contribute to individualized care plans
• Assist with special procedures such as chest tube insertion/removal and tracheostomy care when needed
• Apply infection prevention protocols and fall-prevention strategies consistently at the bedside
• Document care accurately in EPIC and communicate clearly during handoffs and multidisciplinary rounds

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) with at least 2 years of RN experience (must meet requirements within the last 3 years)
• BLS (BCLS) required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Comfort with telemetry monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Experience with IV starts, central line/PICC/arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
• Ability to work a 12-hour rotating schedule (days/nights) and maintain a 1:4 patient ratio
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required

Education

• Active RN licensure required
• BLS (BCLS) certification required
• Oncology experience preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Med-Surg and Oncology nursing principles and symptom management
• Telemetry systems and continuous cardiac monitoring (GE telemetry experience noted)
• IV therapy, central line and PICC line care, and blood product protocols
• Chemotherapy administration processes and safety considerations (preferred)
• ABG interpretation and HFNC management
• Chest tube assistance and tracheostomy care
• Use of Alaris pumps, bladder scanner, and Stryker beds
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and emergency response skills
